GoDrive and GPS tracking
GPS tells you where the car is. GoDrive also tells you how it is.
Classic GPS tracking solved an important problem: you know where your cars are, which routes they take and how far they have driven. What it doesn’t tell you is that a car is starting to have a problem, until it stops at the side of the road. GoDrive CarBox does both.
What you get on top
| Classic GPS tracking | GoDrive CarBox | |
|---|---|---|
| Location, routes, mileage | Yes | Yes, built-in GPS |
| Optimised routes | Depends on the system | Yes, in the Business plan |
| Engine condition | Rarely or not at all | Engine parameters and fault codes, read via OBD-II |
| What it compares against | Fixed rules and thresholds (speed, zones, schedule) | Cars of the same make and model, at comparable engine speeds and loads |
| Maintenance | Usually service reminders by mileage or date | Alerts based on the car’s real condition and trends |
| Installation | Often wired into the car by a technician | Plug and play in the OBD-II port, no wires cut |
Why comparing with the same model makes the difference
A perfectly normal temperature for one engine can be a warning sign for another. A general threshold either raises false alarms or misses real problems. GoDrive learns what “normal” looks like from similar cars’ data and notices when one of them steadily moves away from that pattern. It is the same idea jet engine makers use: every engine is compared with its fleet.
Replace or complement
Because it has built-in GPS, GoDrive CarBox can replace a classic GPS tracking system. If you want to keep the system you already have, GoDrive can also work alongside it, covering the condition of the cars.
