Installation

Plug and play. No wires cut.

The GoDrive CarBox black box plugs into the OBD-II diagnostic port, the same one garages use. No wires are cut and the car’s wiring is not modified, so you don’t need a garage to fit it.

Where the OBD-II port is

In most cars the OBD-II port is inside the cabin, under the dashboard near the steering wheel, within about a metre of the driver, as the standard requires. Sometimes it sits behind a small cover. It has 16 pins and a trapezoid shape.

The battery doesn’t suffer

With the engine off, the black box draws almost no power, so you can leave it fitted even on cars that stay parked for a long time.

What happens after fitting

The black box reads the operating parameters and the GPS position and sends them to the cloud, asynchronously, with minimal delay from real time. The first data appears in the app after the first trips. Each car’s “normal” profile takes shape as data comes in from it and from cars of the same model.
